Logic Framework and Baseline for the Conjoint Water and Sanitation Program-OPS/OMS in Honduras
In September 2009, ESA Consultores won the Project: “Baseline for the Conjoint Water and Sanitation Program” carried out by OPS/OMS.
The study has been divided in two parts and we will begin revising the logic framework and selecting the set of indicators that will be used for the baseline implementation in the second stage.
Characterization and Territorial Planning for the Local Risks Management in the Region CT-12
Tegucigalpa, M.D.C. On July 2009, ESA Consultores was awarded the “Project - Land Characterization and Planning for Local Risk Management in Region CT-12”. This consultancy will be undertaken by the Cosortium conformed by Ibérica de Ingeniería S.A. (IBERINSA, Spain) and Economía-Sociedad-Ambiente Consultores (ESA, Honduras) for the Natural Disaster Mitigation Project within the Permanent Contingency Commissión (COPECO) of the Honduran Government.
The working geographic area comprises the following municipalities: LA CEIBA, JUTIAPA (ATLÁNTIDA), BALFATE (COLÓN), CABAÑAS, LA UNIÓN, SANTA RITA (COPAN), ILAMA, SAN JOSÉ DE COLINAS, TRINIDAD (SANTA BÁRBARA), SULACO, Y YORITO (YORO).
Base Line and Logic Frame of the Second Phase of the Poverty Reduction and Local Development Program
ESA Consultores has been awarded, by FHIS, a contract to make a description of the current situation of 44 municipalities involved in the program, through qualitative and quantitative information, which will allow, in the future, a mid-term and ex-post evaluation to
measure the impact of the program.
Honduran intermediate municipality water and santiation engineering design contract award
ESA Consultores, together with SWECO (SWEDEN), has been awarded a $2.2 million contract by the Government of Honduras to prepare final engineering designs for water and sanitation infrastructure for 16 Honduran intermediate municipalties to be funded under the IADB Loan HO-1048. This project seeks to promote the decentralization of water and sanitation services on a sustainable basis in the context of the new Honduran water sector framework law, passed in 2003. Nicaraguan early childhood program evaluation process enters final phase
ESA Consultores will shortly begin the final phase of the $850,000 impact evaluation of the IADB-funded Nicaraguan early childhood development project, PAININ, which works with local NGOs and mothers to provide appropriate early childhood educational stimulation and learning-through-play. PAININ, which is run by Nicaragua's Ministry of the Family, also works to ensure full take-up of basic health protocols by the mother and child. ESA designed and implemented the baseline study for this program in 2003; and in 2004 we carried out an intermediate evaluation, with emphasis on institutional aspects of the program. The final impact evaluation study, programmed for mid 2005, will generate quantitative measures of the project's development outcomes. The study design is based on baseline and ex-post observations of key study variables at household level, in intervention and control groups, with a total sample of nearly 1,500 households in 44 communities. Design of Methodology for the Formulation of Integral Plans for the Improvement of Municipalities
Currently, the World Bank and a multisectorial team of Government of Honduras, are in the preparation process of the National Project of Integrated Urban Development in Honduras. Its purpose is that the inhabitants of marginal districts have better access to basic services in a sustainable way and that municipalities are better equipped to work with marginal districts.
In this preparatory process, ESA Consultores will develop a methodology to prepare Strategic Plans of Improvement of Districts and its application, with a pilot experience, in three districts of three different municipalities. This methodology will be used in the implementation of the National Project of Integrated Urban Development of Honduras ("Barrio -Ciudad), in thirty (30) municipalities.
Business Plan for the Distance Training Center CAD
PROFUTURO, with World Bank funds, hired us to prepare a business plan for a distance training center that will use tele-conferences, video-conference, internet and other technological media to provide services to all social sectors, This service is currently available in the Global Learning Distance Net (GLDN) of the World Bank.
Ethnic Considerations in the Objectives of Development for the Millenium: the Honduran Case
Our objective in this consultancy, for the IADB, is to show the potential impact of the execution of the Objectives of the Milleniun ODM in the race and ethnic variables. This investigation will provide information about the need to include these variables in the poverty reduction strategy to ensure that the ODM and poverty reduction program do not worsen the situation of excluded groups.
Training Program in the Area of Tourism
We have been hired by the Honduran Institute of Tourism to design and execute a training program for the Sustainable Coastal Tourism Project and The Regional Development Project in Copan Valley, that aims to train different actors in the tourism sector in conservation and interpretation of natural, historic and cultural resources.
Tariff Study for Aguas de San Pedro
The purpose of this project is to determine the adjustment factor for the next three years on the tariff payed for water services, based on historic records and future projections established by the company.
